Cross River State Police Command has responded to allegations of killing 20 people in Boki by Amazon terrorists.

A statement entitled ‘Re: Cameroonian soldiers invade Nigeria, shoot 20 people’ signed by State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, noted, “Cross River State Police Command’s attention has been drawn to false allegations that Ambazonia, an independent group in South West Cameroon, has killed at least 20 people in the Boki Local Government Area of ​​Cross River State.

“The Commander advised the public to ignore this information that is circulating on social media

platforms, as they rebel.

“Steps are being taken to revisit the source of this disgusting information aimed at perpetuating fear and panic.

“In view of the above, the Police Order warns bloggers / online operators who should always check the facts from strict authorities before submitting such unverified information for public use.

“Ultimately, the Police Command is committed to performing its official duties in partnership with other agencies to maintain a peaceful and secure state at all times.”

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, Princewill Ayim, has revealed that more than 500 refugees from southwestern Cameroon have once again fled to the Bashu community in the Boki LGA region.

Ayim said they have set up and sent a Multi-Task Team, which includes SEMA and other international support organizations in Bashu to find urgent needs that could be expanded and which camps should be maintained until UNHCR intervenes.

He said the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internal Displaced and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees would soon issue an official statement on the recent influx of Cameroonians into Nigerian communities.

He appealed to Nigerians who were playing the role of brotherhood to extend any emergency assistance that refugees need, including accommodation.

It has been reported that since Monday morning more refugees, most of them women and children, have been fleeing their homes.

“As I speak, many of them are gathered in individual squares and in individual houses. It is a sad sight. And they are expanding our services, ”said Ayim.
