There are indications that the candidate for All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may present his running mate on Wednesday.
PUNCH has learned that Tinubu will conclude talks with party structures, including governors on Tuesday and will announce his marriage partner on Wednesday.
It was also learned that APC rulers and other stakeholders had agreed that the North-East should produce a party vice-president.
The Sunday PUNCH reported that Tinubu, who appeared in the APC presidency on Wednesday at a party party, may be ready for a Muslim as his partner.
According to the report, candidates for the post include Kebbi Governor Atiku Bagudu; former Borno County Governor Kashim Shettima; Kano District Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Plateau County Governor Simon Lalong.
It was speculated that North-East could produce a candidate, and the position of Senate President will move to South-East and North-West to produce a Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Tinubu’s friend and APC Deputy Chairman for Lagos (Central), Hakeem Bamgbala, in an interview with PUNCH, has confirmed that the next president will announce his running mate in the next two or three days.
Bamigbala also said the party had not yet decided on the appointment of a Muslim to replace Tinubu.
He said, “The issue of the Muslim-Muslim ticket is still being finalized for the next two to three days (Wednesday) when the party will announce the Asiwaju candidate.

“It is not enough for anyone to simply say that the APC has elected a Muslim VP. No one ever said that. We are still looking for a loyal northern man who can be a Christian to accompany Tinubu, ”he said.
But when contacted, APC National Secretary for Publicity, Felix Morka, said, “We are not in any kind of time competition with the PDP to make that announcement.
“If the PDP chooses to make its declaration on Tuesday, that does not impose any obligation on the APC or any other party on that issue to make the same declaration on that day,” he said.
According to him, the process of deciding who to run for office is not a one-sided decision.
“The deputy president will also be elected in consultation with the party and the relevant structures. Nigerians must be patient as they decide who will run in the election and the part of the country they come from, ”he said.
