Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria staged a protest at the gate of the National Assembly over non-payment of revised salaries and allowances.
According to the party, the management of the National Assembly refused to implement the agreement reached earlier this year, which led to a permanent strike.
PASAN, in a statement, said the industrial action came after three notices to officials led by the Secretary to the National Assembly, Amos Ojo.
The statement read in part, “The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, the National Assembly Service Commission and the National Assembly (chapters), at its joint conference on June 2, 2022, decided to launch a permanent strike over the failure of the National Assembly. The existing MoU was jointly signed by the management of NASC and NASS and PASAN on April 13, 2021.
