The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said the former Imo Regional Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was still in custody.

The center said the senator would be released after meeting bail conditions as ordered by a court.

EFCC Public Relations Officer, Wilson Uwujaren, revealed this in an interview.

“Former Governor Rochas Okorocha is still in the custody of the EFCC as he awaits compliance with his bail conditions as ordered by the court.

“We are not refusing to release him, but there are bail procedures, and he must meet the required procedures as ordered by the judge in court today,” he said.

However, one of the former governor’s legal advisers, Steve Asimobi, told a reporter that Okorocha would attend an ongoing election campaign for the All Progressives Congress later today in Abuja.

Asimobi said, “Your Excellency, Rochas Okorocha will be attending the APC presidential election later today. The court granted him bail. Of course there were two options, either to send him back to Kuje prison or to EFCC detention pending our bail conditions. The judge therefore asked the EFCC to keep him in solitary confinement, and that is a normal administrative procedure. The judge also ordered the EFCC to return its international passport to court today immediately.

“As I speak to you, the necessary documents are in court with all the requirements, and they are processing them. Therefore, once we have gone with these, the judge will order the EFCC to release him. You are only under the protection of the EFCC based on a court order.
