A high-level source within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has confirmed that the anti-affiliation agency is currently conducting a secret investigation to monitor delegation compensation and vote-buying in the presidential election of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
A reliable source, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said, “We are currently at the APC meeting place where we operate in secret.
The source also confirmed to Auntyamebo blog that the anti-piracy organization is operating underground to catch the perpetrators unknowingly.
This comes as reports of delegates being asked to reach $ 40,000 by major competitors in the ongoing presidential election.
Indeed 10 days ago, the Auntyamebo blog reported that some EFCC officials had stormed the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola International Stadium, Abuja, during the first presidential election of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
Police arrived at the scene around 4:40 p.m.
Auntyamebo blog also reported that operatives had stormed the PDP’s first presidential election in Abuja following allegations of vote-rigging and bribery of delegates at the event.
The EFCC, which confirmed the PUNCH report, later issued an official statement stating that its staff had attacked the meeting to monitor delegation compensation and financial irregularities.
“Our staff was in the PDP presidential election at MKO Abiola Stadium to monitor the work, and in particular, to assess guest compensation and other financial inefficiencies.” The statement is partially read.
When our reporter contacted EFCC Public Relations official, Wilson Uwujaren, he declined to comment on the matter.
