IPOB cancels Thursday’s sit-at-home order in South-East

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has canceled an earlier May 26 home stay order.


The group said the move followed the postponement of the trial of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, because Judge Binta Nyako had not been convicted. The IPOB leader was due to appear in court on Thursday, May 26.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 25, IPOB media and publicity secretary Emma Powerful urged people to exercise restraint and “keep their eyes on the ball”.

 

Powerful said the announcement was made to inform their members at home and abroad that Kanu’s case in Abuja, May 26, had been postponed to June 28.

The statement read in part, “IPOB has been informed of why and what caused the sudden change of date and we have received it, recently receiving contact with the Registrar of the Supreme Court of the State, through our legal representative, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who informed us that the court. will no longer sit tomorrow, May 26, 2022, in the case of our leader.
