Catholics bishop of the Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga, has banned Catholic parishioners from visiting Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry from now on.
This follows Mbaka’s recent speech against the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
Mbaka while praying during the week announced that Peter Obi, a “young man”, would not be the president of Nigeria. He also said, “Cursed be he.”
Shortly thereafter, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu distanced itself from these rhetoric, noting that Mbaka’s attack on Obi violated Canon 220 of 1983 Code of the Canon Law which barred anyone from illegally damaging a person’s reputation.
In a letter signed by Bishop Onaga personally, addressed to ‘All Clergy, Believers and Believers in the Catholic Diocese of Enugu’, he barred them from paying any attention to the Worship Service.
In the letter, Mbaka said, by refusing to heed the Church’s repeated instructions, “and as I fulfill my role as the Great Shepherd, I therefore forbid all Catholics (clergy, clergy and laity) from now on to visit all religions and parishioners. activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the proper biblical listing process initiated by the Archdiocese has been completed. ”
Although he noted that his decision was based on the fact that Mbaka’s teachings and statements were not in harmony with the teachings of the Catholics Church, he commanded “all faithful Christians to continue praying for Fr. Mbaka. ”
