Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti said he had not withdrawn his bid for the presidency for Deputy President Yemi Osinbajo.
The governor responded to allegations that he had relinquished his candidacy for vice-president after a private meeting, in a statement issued by his media aide, Femi Ige.
Fayemi described the claim as “complete rubbish”, adding that the real leaders of the All Progressives Congress supported his wish.
The statement read as follows;
“It is completely rubbish. No meeting took place between us and anyone who wanted to step down.
“There is no doubt that we are among the candidates for the position and only one will be considered in the race.
“The candidate has a lot of confidence in and respect for the party’s political leaders and rulers who are an important part of the decision-making process.”
