Former Manchester City and Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has confirmed he is retiring following the death of his father last year.
Tevez has revealed that he has rejected promises to extend his time in the United States and has decided to officially end his career in football at the age of 38.
The Argentine, who has won three Premier League, two Scudetti and Champions League titles, last played for Boca Juniors before leaving his youth club in June last year.
Tevez said he stopped playing after ‘losing his first fan’ – his adoptive father, Segundo Raimundo, who died as a result of Covid-19 problems.
‘I’ re retired, it has been confirmed, ‘he said, according to the Mundo Albiceleste website. They gave me a lot of things, including those from the United States. But that’s it, I gave it my all.
‘Playing last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my first fan. ‘
Tevez earlier this year revealed his weight with his weight, admitting he was eating and drinking heavily after leaving Boca.
‘I eat empanadas and drink fernet and wine – whatever I want,’ he said. ‘I take care of myself a little, but now I have gained three or four pounds. I get up slowly. I can’t imagine going back to training and running.

‘I got up at 6:00 am to train. I would arrive first and be the last to leave. But I do not have the strength to do that now. ‘
