Court remands gospel singer Osinachi’s husband in Kuje prison

The Federal Capital Territory Supreme Court in Wuse, Abuja has reinstated Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late renowned evangelist Osinachi, at the Kuje Correctional Center.

The federal Government sued Nwachukwu on Friday, June 3.

He faces 23 charges of culpable homicide, verbal, physical abuse and arbitrary arrests, misconduct, economic harassment, forced separation, emotional and psychological abuse and attempted murder, among others.

Nwachukwu will remain in custody pending a murder trial before the Attorney General of the Federation.

The presiding judge, Justice N.K. Nwosu-Iheme issued the order on Friday after pleading not guilty to 23 counts of domestic violence and murder, among others.

He ordered the suspect to be detained at a correctional facility and the case was postponed to June 16 and June 17.

The 42-year-old singer died on April 8, after spending days in hospital. Her husband was accused of domestic violence, which led to her death.

Following the incident, Nwachukwu was arrested by police and arrested.

Nwachukwu was charged with section 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 and culpable homicide in contravention of section 221 of the Penal Code and the death penalty.
