The 29-year-old engineer, Henrich Akomolafe, won the Peoples Democratic Party foundation in place of Ekiti-South Federal Constituency 1 in the House of Representatives without opposition.
Akomolafe, who is said to be the only candidate for the PDP’s nomination committee, has been announced as a candidate for the Ikere constituency, his hometown.
The PDP candidate said he was motivated by a desire for better representation, adding that he wanted to give life to the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ law.
Akomolafe said, “I want to show my gratitude to the next governor, Bisi Kolawole for his countless support in making my dream a reality, knowing the fact that he had made it clear that youth participation in governance is one of his biggest political agendas.
“I thank him for his interest and I owe him a sense of responsibility to ensure that we fulfill this mandate and more importantly we redefine what quality representation is, especially for the people of Ikere, Ise, Orun and Ekiti South-West.
“Thank you for the efforts of the whole Àtúnkọ́ team, both at home and abroad. PDP supporters, the public and most importantly our royal fathers Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado and Olukere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin unequivocally support.
“By the grace of God and the will of the men who have been with me since the first day, February 25, 2023, this mandate will be closed and we can begin our journey of full reconstruction.”
