How the APC presidential Aspirants waited for Buhari’s Anointed candidate.

LEKE BAIYEWU writes about the completion of the presidency of the All Progressives Congress, how the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (sitting), raised hopes for others who wanted to go public with his January disclosure that someone was electing him and destroyed their expectations. team members without public name disclosure

Former Lagos Governor and All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday became the ruling party president in the 2023 general election. His well-respected political knowledge and skills would, in effect, have been tarnished by the perceived infidelity of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (next.), With all eyes on him to announce his nominee at the best possible time.

The APC is a political party formed by a coalition of political parties and parties, particularly the Nigerian Action Congress, the Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigerian Peoples Party, as well as the All Progressives Grand Alliance and the Peoples Democratic Party. known as the New PDP. Buhari saw and openly acknowledged that Tinubu, who came with the ACN bloc, was the one who led the new party victory in 2015 over the Peoples Democratic Party that ruled the country for 16 years.

The President seems to have missed him since January. In an exclusive interview with Channels Television on January 5, 2022, Buhari expressed fears that his favorite may be “eliminated” if a person is made known. When asked about his favorite presidential election, Buhari replied, “I will not tell you what I like about 2023. He may be removed when I speak (name). I had better keep (a) a secret. ”

Buhari, who has a history of slow travel on sensitive issues, has been slow to show leadership and provided guidance to the APC, the National Working Committee / National Executive Committee and the 23rd presidential candidates on the party’s platform for a few hours at the Special National Convention. of the APC held at Eagle Square Abuja where the primary was held between Tuesday and Wednesday. Observers at the event commented that the team had approached the project due to confusion.

Presidential hopefuls in the APC include Tinubu; Deputy President, Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Governors of Ebonyi District, Dave Umahi; Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi; Kogi District, Yahaya Bello; Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade; Jigawa District, Abubakar Badaru; and former Imo State Governors, Senator Rochas Okorocha; Ogun District, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Zamfara District, Senator Ahmed Yerima; and sitting Manager Ajayi Boroffice; former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.

Others were former Transport Ministers, Rotimi Amaechi; Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; Government of Education, Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba; Serving Overseer, Citadel Global Community Church, Rev. Tunde Bakare; oil tycoon, Tein Jack-Rich; United States of America-based pastor, Felix Nicholas; and his only aspiring woman, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye.

Just before the start of the voting process, voters have resigned earlier, with eight of them asking their supporters to vote for Tinubu. They were Fayemi, Bankole, Amosun, Badaru, Boroffice, Nnamani, Akpabio and Ken-Ohanenye.

Nicholas, who also stepped down, instead asked his supporters to vote for Osinbajo.

Tinubu, however, opposed 13 candidates seeking 2,340 votes. At the end of the campaign, he received 1,271 votes defeating Amaechi who got 316 votes and Osinbajo who got 235 votes and came out second and third, respectively.

Things have arisen as a result of delays in the President’s move to unite the party in unison.

The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, declared Lawan as a party affiliate candidate, a declaration that immediately divided the NWC, with several members dismissing the claim and the President separating Buhari from that.

Adam’s proclamation brought northern rulers to meet with Buhari on Monday, when the President, according to his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said he had no election or election.

There was also outrage and embarrassment for aspirants to enter the South-East geopolitical zone, who were taking turns at the conference to criticize the party’s political style, one of whom – Nwajiuba – failed to attend. . It is noteworthy that the candidates have criticized other geopolitical areas, especially the South-West, for discriminating against the South-East which has never produced a president of the country. However, instead of electing a candidate from among them, they would prefer to write to Buhari to nominate one of them, while the President has someone else in mind.

There are also those who feel that Osinbajo, many people who have criticized him for allegedly betraying Tinubu, his political god, would have suspended his presidential bid if Buhari had been clear on who to elect.

Concerned Nigerian activist and social media analyst, Deji Adeyanju, said Buhari’s handling of the APC and the first president confirmed his failure to manage the country’s affairs. According to him the President has failed to show leadership as the leader of the ruling party.

Adeyanju said, “This man has been making decisions all his life, now what are people waiting for? This is normal for him. This man was not yet ready to rule. This was a man who wanted to be president for the rest of his life, (who came in) (in power) and failed to form his own cabinet for a few months. People were expecting that now, suddenly, you would change? If you are dealing with such a man, you should know what you are dealing with. This is a typical Buhari. And weakness – extreme weakness. The rulers of the north had their way because they all worked
